Mexico City Is Slowly Sinking
Did you know Mexico City is sinking by up to 10 in or 50 cm a year in places? It was built on the drained bed of a lake, and as the soft clay beneath it is pumped dry for water, the ground steadily settles. Some historic buildings now visibly tilt and lean.
