In plain terms: lodomap earns money through affiliate links and, in the future, from products we sell directly. When you click an affiliate link and make a booking or purchase, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. You never pay more for using our links.
An affiliate link is a special link that lets a partner know a visitor came from lodomap. If you go on to book or buy something, the partner pays us a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you went to that partner directly — the commission comes out of the partner's margin, not your pocket.
We keep affiliate links clearly labeled and limited to genuinely useful travel tools. Currently they include:
These are provided through the Travelpayouts partner network. Wherever such a link appears, you'll see a short affiliate note right next to it, and the link itself is marked as sponsored for transparency with browsers and search engines.
Pages that carry affiliate links also load a small script from Travelpayouts, our partner network. It is what credits a booking back to us, and it can set cookies in your browser and attach our partner ID to partner links on the page — including links it recognizes automatically, not only the buttons we placed by hand. So treat any outbound link to a travel booking or retail site on these pages as potentially commercial, whether or not it sits inside one of our labeled cards.
The partner network requires that script on every page, so that is where it is — and the rule we hold ourselves to is that no page runs it silently. Every page of lodomap therefore carries an affiliate disclosure: a short line in the footer site-wide, and a fuller notice at the top of the country guides, city guides and articles, which is where the booking links actually are.
There is a limit on what that script is allowed to do to the page. Left to itself it will also insert its own promotional units — a “top hotels” panel, for example — chosen from the visitor’s own approximate location rather than from what the page is about, and dropped wherever it finds room. We block those. Every hotel or flight recommendation you see on lodomap is one we placed deliberately, next to its own disclosure, about the destination you are actually reading. If you ever see a booking panel that isn’t labelled, it is a bug — please tell us.
What you will see instead, at the foot of a search that names a place, is a single accommodation card for the place you searched for — search Denver and it offers Denver, search Denmark and it offers Denmark. It carries its own #ad label above its buttons, it is a search link rather than a recommendation of any particular hotel, and we don’t list hotel names or review scores there, because those would have to come from our partner rather than from us.
The second limit is about what we will and won't monetize. Links to sources rather than shops — Wikipedia, government travel advisories, airport and transit authorities, statistical agencies — are references, not recommendations, and we do not take a commission on them. You can always check where a link goes by hovering it before you click, and we're happy to answer questions about any specific one.
lodomap may also sell travel gear directly (for example, a universal travel adapter). Where a product is fulfilled by a third-party supplier on our behalf, it is still sold under the lodomap name and subject to the same commitment to honesty described here. Product pages will always show the real price before you buy.
We describe travel services and products as accurately as we can, and we do not promise outcomes. Prices, availability, fares, and partner terms change constantly, and nothing on lodomap is a guarantee that a particular booking, price, or result will be available to you. We do not claim a product will produce any specific result, and we never present a partner's marketing claim as a finding of our own. Where we are unsure, we say so.
Earning a commission never changes what we recommend or how we describe a destination, service, or product. Our guides, safety notes, and travel tips are written to be genuinely useful first. We only point you toward tools we believe are worth using, and we tell you plainly when a link is an affiliate link so you can decide for yourself.
Using our affiliate links is completely optional. If you'd rather not use them, you're always free to visit any partner or retailer directly — it makes no difference to the price you pay. If you do choose to use them, thank you: the commissions help keep lodomap free to read.
