Who We Are

Travel should be easier to understand and open to everyone.

At lodomap, we believe the world is worth exploring, and that more people should feel confident doing it.

We’re travelers who love discovering new places, learning how other people live, and finding our way through the realities of travel. But we also think the travel industry can do better. Too often, travel comes wrapped in assumptions: that some places are too expensive, that certain destinations are too complicated, that unfamiliar cultures should be approached with fear, or that there’s only one “right” way to travel.

We’re here to challenge those ideas.

LodoMap helps travelers look past the myths and understand what travel actually involves, from the real costs of a trip to visas, fees, transportation, cultural expectations, and all the little obstacles that can make travel feel harder.

We look for alternatives, workarounds, and better ways forward. Sometimes that means finding a less expensive option. Sometimes it means understanding a visa rule more clearly. Sometimes it means seeing a culture or destination from a perspective that challenges what you’ve been told.

We don’t believe there’s one correct way to travel. We believe there are more options than most people realize.

Curiosity over assumptions: We believe the best way to understand the world is to explore it. We question conventional travel wisdom and encourage people to look beyond stereotypes, headlines, and preconceived ideas, especially how it's presented on social media or in the news.

Access over exclusivity: Travel shouldn’t be reserved for people with unlimited money, extensive experience, or the “right” passport. We look for practical ways to reduce barriers and expand access to the world.

Information over fear: Unfamiliar doesn’t have to mean dangerous, difficult, or undesirable. We provide context and useful information so travelers can make informed decisions rather than decisions based on fear.

Transparency over hype: We help travelers determine what things actually cost, where the catches are, and when something isn’t as simple as it looks. We don't pretend that every destination or travel hack is perfect.

Respect over judgment: Travel means entering someone else’s home, community, culture, or way of life. We encourage curiosity and respect without expecting cultures to conform to our own expectations.

Options over one-size-fits-all: There’s rarely just one way to get somewhere, pay for something, obtain a visa, or experience a destination. We believe travelers deserve to know their options.

Exploration over perfection: Travel doesn’t have to be luxurious, Instagram-worthy, or perfectly planned to be meaningful. Sometimes the best experiences come from taking the less obvious route.

What We’re Trying to Change

The travel industry has made it incredibly easy to book a trip, but not always easy to understand one.

lodomap is interested in everything that happens around the booking: the fees, rules, assumptions, cultural differences, costs, limitations, and workarounds that determine whether a trip actually feels possible.

We want to help turn:
