Did you know french fries most likely come from Belgium? Villagers along the Meuse valley are said to have been frying potato strips centuries ago, and one story claims American WWI soldiers dubbed them "French" because their Belgian hosts spoke French. Belgians remain the masters: double-fried, in a paper cone, with mayonnaise.
