If you are a fan of Thomas Dambo and his Trolls, then you cannot miss "Hector El Protector" on your next visit to Puerto Rico!

Culebra

On the island of Culebra off the coast of the main island of Puerto Rico, is Hector El Protector, technically the second, since he was rebuilt in 2019 after suffering damage from Hurricane Maria.

If you are staying in San Juan, you need to hire a car or rent a car to travel to the ferry that will bring you to Culebra. The ferry is stationed in Ceiba which is about an hour and a half east of San Juan. There is a daily timetable, but since most methods of transport on the island are golf carts or Jeeps, it is better to err on the safe side and arrive early.

The ferry only costs $2 which is worth the drive to get there.

Finally, as the ferry begins to dock in Culebra, there you will meet Hector El Protector who is protecting the island by holding out a latern to let all future hurricanes know that this is a beautiful island that should be kept safe from any future hurricanes.
