Local pride: Frederick's Community Bridge looks like an ornate stone span covered in ivy and carvings — but it's a plain concrete bridge transformed entirely by trompe-l'oeil mural painting, one of the best optical illusions in American public art. Francis Scott Key, author of the Star-Spangled Banner, practiced law here and is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
